COSAGACH
While Hygge is for freezing winters and cosagach is for wet summers.
It is a Scottish Gaelic word that means ‘safe and cozy’. When one thinks of snug and coziness, warm blankets, coffee, and snow, Hygge comes to mind. However, cosagach is the complete opposite. It is more about rain, moss, and mountains. The word itself is derived from a Gaelic word ‘còsag’, a tiny little crevice where small creatures hide. If you look at it this way, cozy does make sense!
Cosagach has become one of the biggest trends of 2018. If you are not a summer person, you can practice cosagach in winters. In Scotland, winters are extreme. You face vicious rains almost daily. At such times, stay indoors, enjoy drinks in a pub, and spend a few days up on the mountain lodge.
For outdoor coziness, dress in warm clothes and walk to the seashore and gaze at the ferocious waves. Just keep one thing in mind, nature is the true essence of Cosagach.
As for me, I’d like a bit of both – a moss-covered pond and rainy countryside as well as snowy hills and wicked winters.
